Year 9 Options 2023
Choosing your options is an exciting time - but it can also be a daunting one. We have designed your curriculum for Years 10 and 11 to give you the best possible chance of achieving your goals in the future. The choices you make now will shape your future, not only for the next two years, but also in later life. This booklet has been designed to help you and your parents/carers make informed choices about the subjects you will study in Years 10 and 11.
The curriculum in English schools has undergone a radical change in recent years. The government has made a very clear statement on the subjects it feels are important for young people in England to study.
At Spires we have taken the opportunity to consider and redesign our curriculum. We have reviewed all elements of what and how we teach to ensure our students have a world class, knowledge-based curriculum that will support you in your life ambitions. All students will have the opportunity to nominate six subjects – four option choices and two reserves. We will do everything we can to ensure that you receive your four choices. It is important to note that qualifications will only run if there are sufficient numbers.
Please read this Options Booklet carefully to decide which set of subjects you would like to study in Years 10 and 11.
