The House System

Every student and staff member is a member of a ‘house’.

The purpose of the House system is to further promote community, partnerships and participation in the Academy.  The House system aims to do this by providing enjoyable and competitive events and activities, these include sporting activities, achievement point competitions and other challenges or extra-curricular events.  It promotes positive behaviour and good work, encourages teamwork, provides responsibility opportunities and brings everyone in the Academy together.

We have four Houses which are named after famous people who were chosen by the staff and students because they have a link to Kent.

Every form has an elected:

  • House Captain
  • Sport Captain

These form the School Council and the Sports Council.

Students are awarded Achievement points which build towards certificates of achievement for individuals and develop personal pride and through fortnightly house assemblies build towards house pride and a sense of belonging.

Each week there are literacy and numeracy quizzes and certificates for the form who has the best attendance or most Achievement points.

Each term there are sports activities and subject competitions at which House teams compete against each other to earn points for their House.

At Christmas and Easter there is a whole school House based assembly that celebrates the winning House in a variety of competitions and events for that term and rewards individuals for their contributions.

In the Summer term an Achievement Evening is held and parents are invited to celebrate alongside the staff and students.
