Performance Measures
At Spires Academy we are very proud of all our students’ achievements. There is a culture of continual improvement in recent years that has resulted in improved student performance.
This year’s GCSE and A Level results had to be awarded differently, after exams were unable to go ahead due to Covid-19. Schools and colleges were asked to use their professional experience to make a fair and objective judgement of the grades they believed a student would have achieved had they sat their exams this year. The judgements were based on work that the student had already done and centre-assessed grades (CAGs) were submitted to the relevant exam board.
We were delighted to see our Year 11 students rewarded for their efforts with realistic and excellent grades. Our students worked incredibly hard and showed resilience in a very difficult time amid enormous stress. They were supported by our team of committed and talented staff. We are extremely proud of our school community which continues to go from strength to strength.
Results for students who attended Spires Academy full time for their KS4 study (excluding those who attended the local Medical PRU, Inclusion Service and Alternative Placement provisions) are as follows:

Individual Successes Include:
Charlie Evans achieved Grade 9s in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Statistics, a Grade 8 in Geography and Grade 7s in English and French. He is now studying for his A Levels and has ambitions to go to university.
Wahida Ally achieved BTEC Distinction* (equivalent to a 9) in both Business and Health & Social Care; Grade 8s in History and French and Grade 7s in English, Mathematics and Combined Science. She is now studying A Levels in Biology, English Literature and Business.
Year 13 Results
In Year 13 our students completed BTEC Nationals in Sport or Sport with Business.
In the BTEC National Extended Certificate for Business (equivalent 1 A Level) all students passed with a Distinction* (equivalent to an A Level Grade A)
The average points per entry was 28.06 or a M+.
Individual Successes include:
Owen Fagg who achieved 1 Distinction* and 3 Distinction grades and is now training to become a financial adviser.
