Student Voice
The Student Council is an important part of the fabric of the Academy, and exists to make sure that all students have a voice in how the Academy is run. The Student Council meets regularly to discuss issues affecting the students, and makes a valued contribution to the Academy community.
All students at Spires have an opportunity to be part of the Council during their time at the Academy. Membership of the Council encourages the development of important debating, team working and leadership skills among students.
Other opportunities exist for students to take up their rightful place in leading developments in the Academy. Recent charitable events have been organised by small groups to support local and national charities.
The BBC Children in Need charity had a donation of £267.55 due to a group of students cooking and selling cakes and providing fairground style activities.
The RNLI charity received £500 in December 2007 as a result of a school wide charity event. Two representatives went to Whitstable Life Boat Centre to hand over the cheque and to see the facilities they were supporting first hand.
