Sporting Events and Achievements

Spires Academy gymnasts showcased their skills at the British Schools Gymnastics Association’s under-19 floor and vault competition. The contest was held at Spires Academy, Sunday 4th December and involved pupils from six schools in the South East. Gymnasts performed somersaults, walkovers and handspring vaults, with judges awarding marks for individual performances. Phoebe Blair won first place in the Year 7 intermediate girls, while Lucy Fagg, 13, came top in the Year 8 novice section. Amy Carpenter was awarded second place in the Year 9 intermediate girls. We now look to the next competition in January where we hope to build on this success. Other schools taking part were Kent College, Pembury, St John’s Catholic Comprehensive School, Gravesend, Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School and Tormead School, Guildford.
