Spires Academy have again been running a fantastic additional GCSE photography course, which is an excellent opportunity for many students who haven't taken art as a GCSE option, to study a fascinating and creative option - particularly when considering further education options.
It has always been a really successful course with a high pass rate, and is so successful we teach the 2 year course in just one year!
Work so far this year has included 2 units entitled 'Points of View' and 'Portraits' and just some of the fantastic work is available to view here. Students have to plan, photograph, develop film, store images, print images using the dark room, edit, use Photoshop and then mount and display work with relevant annotations - so a broad range of skills are developed throughout the course. The course also includes researching and referencing many artists and photographers.
The course will continue next year and we will also be introducing an A Level Photography course with students from the Marlowe Academy and Spires Academy Sixth Form.
Please speak to Mr Foreman if you would like more information.
