Captain Tom Moore
Britain will today celebrate the 100th birthday of Captain Tom Moore, the Second World War veteran who has raised almost £30m for the NHS.
Captain Tom made it his mission to walk 100 laps of his garden and set his target at £1,000, but ended up capturing the hearts of the nation - prompting a stream of donations in a whirlwind few weeks.
A Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast of a Spitfire and a Hurricane has been organised by the RAF to mark his birthday. As we head outside tonight to clap for the NHS let us also raise a salute to wish Captain Tom a very happy 100th birthday too.
