Assembly of the Bird Boxes

After the visit to ISG the other week the students used one of the Engineering workshop lessons to assemble the flat-packed bird boxes.

The first stage was to check that all the components were present by comparing the supplied parts with the cutting list and assembly drawing. Selected panels were then pre-nailed to aid assembly and the front panel had the dowel pegs glued and inserted using a wooden mallet.

After the main body of the bird box had been secured the students than assembled the roof before screwing this to the sides.

All our Engineers managed to assemble the bird box within the lesson and were happy with their results.
