Canterbury District FootballPosted on: 27/11/2018
On Saturday 24th November, the Canterbury District side played their first game of the season against Gravesham District. Both teams have strong sides and this was always going to be a good game. The District side is run by Nicky Lewis and Tom Clifton, both from Spires Academy and this is their second season in charge. For the first time, Spires’ students were involved in the district side, which is a testament to the level of coaching the players receive at Spires’ Elite Football Academy. Denis Mehalla (Dover Athletic), Eddie Jordan (Dover Athletic) and Kai Hodge (Canterbury Youth) are all students at Spires and part of its Elite Academy.
The players in the Canterbury District squad are exceedingly talented and represent a number of teams within Kent. It is an amazing achievement for Spires’ Elite Football Academy to have three of its members in the District squad.
The final score was a win for Canterbury 2-1 and puts the District side at the top of the league.
