Spires & Bromley Football Academy season begins!Posted on: 28/09/2018
The partnership between Spires Academy and Bromley FC has kicked off with the Academy team playing their first two fixtures this week.
Using the school’s links to Bromley FC we played against a partner team, based at Ravensbourne School in a friendly fixture on Monday, followed by Spires first appearance as a school in the u19 Academies League South. Both matches included players from the new year 12 Level 3 BTEC Sport course and a number of players from the school’s own football Academy set up by Head of Sport Development Nicky Lewis including Sophie Chapman and Toby Swinn, of Gillingham Girls Academy and Dover Athletic respectively. Spires Academy Head of Sport Development Nicky Lewis commented “With our ever growing and improving Football Academy it is fantastic that we have now provided a full pathway for our players with them now joining the Bromley Academy team in Year 12 and some players having already played up a year from the current Year 11 team that will shortly be taking a trip to Holland as a part of the Football Academy”.
In addition to this, ex Crystal Palace Ladies player Megan Pearce represented the Bromley Girl’s Academy Team in their dramatic 6-5 victory against Gillingham Ladies.
The fixtures saw the beginning of the new season with all new video Analysis in action as the games were filmed live and viewable for players post-match, including analysis sessions throughout the school week.
