Reward and Intervention Programme with the Dogs TrustPosted on: 04/12/2017
As part of the Pastoral teams reward and intervention programme, 17 students attended a 6 week Dog/Animal care course. The course was organised by our Youth Worker Dave Yhnell in partnership with the Dogs Trust Canterbury. Jo Cullum-Fernandez from the Dogs Trust ran a series of sessions covering a number of topics including Dogs and the Law, Care and Nutrition, Dog ownership and costs involved etc.
The final week was a behind the scenes visit to the Dogs trust centre in Whitstable, where the group had a tour of the centre finding out how the dogs in their care are looked after etc. This also involved an opportunity to play with the new puppies at the centre.
The course was a great success with everyone enjoying the course, a weekly highlight was Jo’s assistant who came with her every week, this was her dog paddy who assisted her with the sessions at the academy.
Students all received a certificate from the dogs trust and also a goody bag.
