A talented gymnast is set to compete in a national final after coming home with a silver medal.

Phoebe Blair, 13, a member of Spires’ elite gymnastics academy, took part in the British Schools Gymnastic Association (BSGA) acro and tumbling regional contest held at Kent College, Pembury, last Sunday (3).

The youngster claimed the silver with her partner last Sunday (3). Blair will now represent the south-east region at the national finals to be held in Stoke on Trent in May.

The teenager has been training hard to perfect her routine at the Spires’ Elite Gymnastics Academy and Canterbury Gymnastics Club, with the two clubs operating in partnership

In October, Blair won a national British Gymnastics award when she was named young Volunteer of the Year after being nominated by Canterbury Gymnastics Club.

Nicky Lewis, head of sport development at Spires Academy said: “Phoebe is a very talented gymnast.

“Her dedication and hard work to reach these finals has been immense and we are so proud of her achievements.

“By achieving a place in the national finals Phoebe is a shining example to other Spires’ Elite Gymnastic Academy pupils. Phoebe has a bright future in gymnastics ahead of her and we are all very proud of her achievement.”
