Year 7 Catch Up Funding Expenditure

The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support year 7 students who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of KS2.  The funding for 2018/19 is expected to be in the region of £14 000.

  • Identify students not at the expected level in reading
  • Ensure all teachers are aware 
  • Put in place differentiated intervention dependent on level of need using the literacy coach
  • Purchase new reading books aimed at Yr 7
  • Continue with Buster Bookclub with Kentonline
  • Purchase Accelerated reader
  • Develop low ability boys handwriting skills
  • Introduce the Big Read across the Academy by providing every mentor group Yrs 7-10 with a group reading book each term
  • Engagement with the EEF English Mastery Programme
